An encouraging verse sent by a friend...Psalm 73:26 "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

Putting her mind to it

Sarah was told last week that she would most likely have to go to a rehab after being discharged from this hospital. This news pretty much ruined her day. She had thought that she would be discharged over the weekend and be able to go home and spend a good month with the kids before having to enter the realm of chemo. Of course, her mind took her down the route of weeks of rehab, so it was a heavy blow mentally and emotionally. (Sarah: Even in the midst of this, God was reminding me of His provision in that Denise, my cousin, was here the day of this "devastating" news. Her support and love in person was a gift from Him.)
Well, this morning she was told that she would have to do 4 things in order to go home, with no definative timeframe.
1. Get around on crutches or a walker.
2. Be able to sit in and get out of a chair by herself.
3. Be able to climb stairs with crutches.
4. Be able to get in and out a bed by herself.
I am happy to report that Sarah passed all these tests today. Tomorrow's physical therapy session will be just more stair practice and exercise. The physical therapist said Sarah has come a long way and is ready to go home. No rehab.

This is a good reminder why Jesus said "Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his height... Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." - Matt 6:27,34
And Paul later tells us "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." - Phil 4:6-7 (Sarah: This is something that I continually struggle with, but I know that God will use this "rehab scare" to remind me of this.)

  9. Praise Jesus! You go girl! This is such a praise report among the many that God has allowed. I am so proud of you and relieved for you to go home and be with your kids. Your determination fueled by God's grace is such an encouragement to us all! Keep forging ahead.

"You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him." Psalm 18: 28-30

  14. We are so happy for you and again we see the power of our Lord's hand upon you and little Ethan. This past Sunday, Pastor Phil had the service and spoke on the walk of "feelings" or the walk of "faith". Your faith walk is seeing you come home as a whole family and that is something to give much thanks for. Continue to be obedient to the road ahead and let God be your strength. My favorite scripture is Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Hugs to everyone and say hi to your mom and dad. Steve and Letha

  15. Psalm 37:4 is a favorite of mine and it has been proven true with you and your family so far. "Delight yourself also in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." God is truly answering your prayers and I believe that it is because you are delighting and resting in Him! Keep trusting and resting.....Praying with anticipation for what God will continue to do in your lives.
