Praying for us
I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for praying. You don't know what it is like on this end to know that people are praying for things we ask for (sometimes in the exact moment we ask), as well as things we are not asking for, and seeing the results. As some of you know, the requests that come up in the scrolling updates are sometimes a bit personal and immediate. Well, our lives have been exposed. We don't even really care anymore. We are who we are (period). Sometimes it is really hard for me to just stand by and see Sarah suffer and not have other Godly people petition our Lord on her behalf. I have seen your prayers being answered even in the simplest or most private requests. Sarah knows what I post for updates. Dignity has left the room and humility and transparency have entered. If you have been following the blog on a frequent basis (multiple times daily), you may see immediate personal requests for prayer. I am not trying to be funny or demeaning. We are on a journey where real things / hard things are happening and have invited all of you to join in our journey, so I thank you for following along and especially praying when things are hard. No matter what time of day, I know when I post a request there is always someone out there that sees it and is praying along side us. Thank you.

You are welcome. God has put you on my heart and mind and will not let me forget you! Which is good, of course. I check the website often, and will continue to pray for you. I love Ethan's name! May God bless him, and may the nurses be amazed at how quickly he's gaining weight. May God be your strength, Sarah, and ease your pain. May God be your strength, Bob, and help you lead your family. We all love you!

I am praying for you at this moment! May God heal Sarah. May Ethan be able to gain weight and come home with you all. May the Lord give you- Bob -the stamina to continue to watch, help and comfort Sarah with her recovery. May He carry you on His wings at this time of exhaustion. He is with you and will see you through this. Sarah..keep looking forward..to being home with all your babies. To be the strong woman of God that we all know you are. Your family will grow stronger and closer through this. Closer together and closer to HIM.
ReplyDeleteGOD BLESS !! Keep on with the RACE. We are with you in prayer!

Bob and Sarah---We are praying for you continually. You are constantly on my mind and I check regularly for updates and more immediate ways to pray. Thank you for your transparency and willingness to open up with all your friends and family so that we be a part of your journey by praying for you. I know many people would like to "help" and at this time it gives us a way to help by praying and keeping updated.
ReplyDeleteBob-- We are praying for you that God would continue to give you the strength to be vigilant to both Sarah and Ethan. And also to your two beautiful kids at home. We pray that you would get rest and be able to advocate for Sarah and Ethan as needed.
Sarah- We continue to pray for strength and healing in your body. You are such a strong person and God knows that, he also knows when things are tough and during those times he is right there beside you helping you along. Keep up the good work!!!!
God Bless you both..... Beautiful name you picked for your little baby boy :) Love Mike and Laura Patton

Good Morning guys! Thanks for being so open and humble. It helps us know better how to pray for you. I just wanted to say that I love the name you chose for your little guy. I have prayed for you today and will continue to remember you in prayer throughout the day.
ReplyDeleteJust remember, "Little by little, inch by inch, by the yard it's hard, by the inch, what a cinch. Never stair up the stairs, just step up the steps, little by little, inch by inch!"
Also, an old hymn that comes to mind..."Day by day, and with each passing moment, strength I find, to meet my trials here. Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment, I've no cause for worry or for fear. He who's heart is kind beyond all measure, gives unto each day what He deems best. Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure, mingling toil with peace and rest.
We love you! Remember, as each day passes, you are one day closer to being home, being without pain, being a "normal" family, being rested, being WELL!! See you soon! -Danny, Jen, Zack and Kayleigh
It's a privilege to be invited to pray. Thank you for allowing us to be on this journey with you. Your faith and courage has been an inspiration to me and countless others. We love you and continue to hold all of you up to the throne in prayer. I will pray especially that your legacy of firm belief will be instilled in each of your children. Much Love, Nancy A.
ReplyDelete"Remember, your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask Him." Matthew 6:8
ReplyDeleteIn praying for you this morning, I (and the other ladies with me) were all led to pray for peace... and this scripture came to us:
ReplyDeletePeace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 - court
Sarah and Bob,
ReplyDeleteWe love Ethan's name and new picture. Thanks for keeping us up to date!
In His love,
Christy, Megan, Mark, and Holly
Bob & Sarah,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the privilege of sharing in your rejoicing and weeping, and suffering. For this is what the Body of Christ is all about. We are to bear one anothers burdens and pray for one another. We love the name Ethan and where you took the name from Psalm 89.
Love Bob & Esther
Thinking of you all and praying for God's continued healing oils be poured over you. You are so loved and so many out there will keep you covered in prayer daily. Let the nurses know that they will see the hand of God in every ounce that Ethan gains and yes it will be because of the power of prayer. Bet everyone is in love with him. Tell Andrew and Lindsey they will make a wonderful brother and sister to him. Blessings to the grandparents and other family members. "Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost." Romans 15:13 :)Steve & Leth
ReplyDeleteHow could he not gain weight with the time with Mom, the wise decisions of the nurses, the love from Dad, the prayers of all these good people, and of course the power of God? We are praying too, and I love the name, too!

We've not met, your blog was passed on to us, but please know that this large family has been and will continue to pray for you. He is a great and mighty God!
ReplyDeleteAlleluia!! We're thrilled to see that Ethan has gained weight. I trusted my mother's adage that "no news is good news" during the day--I prayed that meant a peaceful day for you: that you either both finally zonked out for a good sleep (!) and/or you had a day of bonding and closeness that kept you busy rejoicing in each other. We will continue to pray for progress on chubby legs for Ethan and for quick healing for Sarah--wouldn't it be so wonderful for you all to come home together!
ReplyDeleteWhen you do come home, know EVERYONE at Measured Progress & daycare (along with all your other support circles, I'm sure) is ready to help with anything and everything--you name it!
Love Karen, Randy, Emily, and Luke
We are grateful you've allowed us to be part of your journey and that God is using your lives as a powerful witness and testimony of His strength, glory, care and provision for His children. May you receive all peace and comfort from His embrace and through the love of everyone who rallies for you, known and unknown. God bless...

Praise the Lord!!! God is so good. I read this verse in Psalm this morning and it was encouraging and so I want to share it with you...Psalm 68:19~"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens."
ReplyDeletePraying still for you all....
HE WILL GAIN THAT WIEGHT!!
ReplyDeleteHi Ethan! Mommy, Daddy and I are so happy to hear you are gaining weight. Keep up the good work. That extra calorie stuff they put in the bottles is yummy! I know you like to flirt with your nurses (I did too) but believe me, there is nothing better than being home and sleeping in your own crib. See you soon. Love, Cousin Aidan

ReplyDeleteBob, Sarah,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for allowing us to join in with your praise of our Lord for his generosity and compassion toward you.
I know it isn't easy to remain open for all to see. I know about the humility of being debilitated and in the hospital as you know. I think it really hit me when I realized I couldn't wipe my own bottom. Everything had to be done for me.
My roommate at the hospital that stayed with me for the longest period of time was recovering from a broken hip and subsequent replacement. I could tell the pain was incredible for him. I can only imagine it is similar for you. I will continue to pray for your pain.
I habitually shared my faith with my roommates while there. He was no different. When I began talking to him about my faith he immediately expressed to me that that was a subject he did not want to discuss. After a couple of days he started asking me questions about what I was reading. I told him. He'd scowl. A couple more days went by. When his wife came in one day,he asked her if she knew where his bible was. She said yes and went home immediately to fetch it. The rest of our time was dominated by bible discussion and study.
After he had left the hospital, I was visited by a person I didn't know. She asked if I was me. I acknowledged and she proceeded to tell me that the man I roomed with was a deacon at their church that had left because of some incident. He had returned he said because his time spent with me in the hospital. She expressed that the congregation had been praying for him.
I wouldn't want to go through it again. But, just that incident was enough to see God's hand in allowing me to be there.
Your trial, openness, and faith will touch many you may not even know. Be encouraged.
I'll continue to pray.
Vinnie
Bob and Sarah,
ReplyDeleteIt was great to see you both on Friday. I am keeping all the details of your homecoming (Sarah, Bob, and Ethan) in prayer as well as the transition for the entire family once home. Am also thinking about you tonight as you await the results of the CT scan tomorrow. Praying for much peace for you all, sweet rest tonight, and good results tomorrow. Much love and prayer, Jill
Good job with the weight gain, Ethan.
